East London, one of South Africa’s largest ports, has honored David Lazarus. The City Council has agreed to name the new bridge over the Nahoon River on the North-East expressway the “David Lazarus Bridge.” Lazarus, East London’s Mayor, is a Freeman of the city and has served the Council for 35 years. He also represented East London City on the Cape Provincial Council for 23 years. Lazarus plays a prominent part in the city’s communal affairs.
