Israel accused Egypt today of instituting an official campaign of anti-Semitism, persecution and expulsion of Jews reminiscent of the Nazi actions against the Jews. The accusation was made by Dr. Menahem Kahany, Israeli representative at the meeting here of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, during a discussion of the report of the UN High Commissioner on Refugees.
Dr. Kahane declared that since 1956 “the situation of Egyptian Jewry has gravely deteriorated after administrative measures taken by the Egyptian Government against them and a virulent anti-Semitic campaign conducted against them –a campaign which reminds us of another which took place not so long ago on another continent but on the same pattern and led by the same people who have found friendly asylum in Egypt.”
