The Council of Ministers of the European Economic Community, currently in session in Brussels, today discussed at length the question of Israel’s request for some kind of link with the Common Market.
The council decided to instruct an EEC Commission to examine in detail the problems confronting Israel as a result of the EEC common agricultural policy and the EEC external tariff policies. Since the commission will also be instructed to establish contact with Israel for the proposed examination, a form of collaboration will be set up between the EEC commission and Israeli officials.
It was expected that the arrangement would make it possible for the EEC unit to obtain a clear view of Israel’s problems in relation to the six-nation European market and to suggest appropriate solutions to the Council of Ministers for those problems.
