An expedition will be sent to Palestine to excavate the city of Lachish, where the prophet Isaiah was believed to have prayed that the city be saved from the Assyrians, following which 18,000 Assyrians were destroyed overnight.

The expedition will be sent by Sir Henry Wellcome, fellow of the Royal Society. The city is believed to be situated some twenty-five miles couth of Jerusalem.
