Publication of the fifth volume of the Universal Jewish Encyclopedia was announced here today by Rabbi Isaac Landman, editor-in-chief of the ten-volume work.
Embracing 645 pages, the encyclopedia presents 867 biographical sketches of distinguished Jewish members of the community, elsewhere in the nation, and abroad. Jewish communities in fifty cities and countries, histories of twenty-six Jewish institutions, and sketches of thirty others not of the religion whose efforts have affected Jewish life through the centuries are included.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
