First lady Hillary Rodham Clinton inadvertently conferred statehood on the Palestinian people in an interview on ABC Television’s “Good Morning America.” When asked why President Clinton’s initial response to the allegations of an affair with a former White House intern was not forceful enough, Mrs. Clinton said, “Here he is hosting two heads of state — he has Prime Minister Netanyahu and he has Mr. Arafat. He does not want to be talking about matters that do not in any way affect peace in the Middle East.”
