Henry Ford’s statements regarding the Jews in the recent issue of COLLIER’S WEEKLY are torn to shreds by leading Christians, whom the NEW YORK WORLD had asked to express their opinions on the automobile manufacturer’s incredible assertions.

“Many of the great constructive enterprises of the world have been planned and financed by men of Jewish blood and faith,” George Gordon Battle, prominent New York attorney, is quoted as saying, replying to Ford’s charge that Jews never building anything themselves, but wait until things begin to decay, then they get into them.

“Among the enterprises planned by Jews.” Mr. Battle includes the “Panama and Suez canals, many of our greatest railroads and steamship lines and a number of our most important industries.”

Wm. Allen White, distinguished writer of Emporia, Kansas, sees in Ford’s attack merely a political move. “Clearly,” says Mr. White, “Ford wants the Kluxer vote. He will not offend the Catholics, they are too numerous out west and back East, but if he can get the Kluxers on a shoestring by abusing the Jews who are not politically numerous outside the cities of the Eastern seaboard, Ford will do so.”

Darwin P. Kingsley, President of the New York Life Insurance Co. and also President of the New York Chamber of Commerce said: “There is much in what Mr. Ford says that is entirely true and with which I am thoroughly in accord, but on the subject of the Jews he is– I hardly know what word to use except crazy. I don’t understand his using the world Jews and international financiers synonomously, nor do I understand his contention that labor organizations are working with the Jewish financiers to paralyze industry.”
