French police began an intensive security watch on all ferries crossing the English Channel today. Police sources said that Palestinian terrorists had threatened to blow up the vessels in reprisal for the arrest and expulsion from France of Dr. Diane Campbell-Lefevre, a South African physician who admitted under questioning by French police that she belonged to the Black September terrorist organization.

Police sources said that the Black September threats were being checked but that “in the meantime we are taking no risks.” All departing cross-channel ships, hovercraft and ferries were being thoroughly checked along with passengers and cars, police said.
