The leftist weekly Nouvelle Observateur assailed the French Government today for its continued embargo on arms shipments to Israel. The paper said in an editorial that it was “inexcusable hypocrisy on the part of the Gaullists as well as certain Communist nations to claim that they favor the existence of Israel without granting it the means to exist.” The editorial warned that “as long as the great powers do not protect the survival of Israel, its citizens will have good reason to join the expansionist partisans of the greater Israel movement.”
