Gen. Riley Remains U.N. Truce Chief Until Successor Named

United Nations Palestine truce chief Gen. William E. Riley has let it be known that he will not leave Palestine until his successor arrives, it was learned in UN circles today.

Gen. Riley resigned last month effective May 15. The same UN circles reported that the UN Secretariat has found it impossible thus far to find a successor for Gen. Riley.

(In Israel the government today protested to the U.N. Mixed Armistice Commission against the killing of two Jewish watchmen yesterday by Arab infiltrates. The two guards were on duty at a settlement in the Jerusalem Corridor near the Jordan border.)
