Germany’s high court voided the jail sentence of a former Nazi, saying the 95-year-old was unable to stand trial. In 2002, Friedrich Engel, the former SS chief of Genoa, Italy, was sentenced to seven years in prison for organizing a wartime massacre and shooting 59 Italian prisoners in 1944. But Engel still could go to jail because he was sentenced to life in prison in 1999 by an Italian military court for participating in 246 murders.
