Gersman, Editor of Jewish Newspaper in South Africa, Dies

Boris German, founder and editor of the Afrikaner Yidishe Zeitung, only Yiddish-language newspaper in South Africa, died here at the age of 52.

Mr. Gersman, who came to the Union from Lithuania, founded the newspaper 23 years ago. A tireless protagonist of Yiddish culture he helped the cause of the Yiddish theatre in South Africa and fostered other cultural interests through the Zeitung.
