Governor Herbert H. Lehman was bid to become an honorary member of the Syracuse University Chapter of Scabbord and Blade, a national honorary military society. A committee, representing the Company B, 4th Regiment, the local unit of the society, was appointed to go to Albany early in February and confer the honor of initiation upon the state’s chief executive at a special ceremony at the Executive Mansion.

In accepting the invitation, which was extended by First Lieutenant Frederick T. Thayer on behalf of the society, Governor Lehman replied that he “greatly appreciated the honor” bestowed upon him.
