Grand opera in Hebrew has been introduced in Palestine by a company of Jewish refugee singers from Germany and Austria. A Hebrew version of “Tales of Hoffman,” by the French-Jewish composer, Jacques Offenbach, was given a highly successful premiere here. It was announced that Issay Dobrowen, who is now here as guest conductor of the Palestine Symphony Orchestra, will return later to conduct the Hebrew opera.
