Hundreds of delegates from all parts of the nation are streaming into this city to attend the nineteenth annual convention of Hadassah, Women’s Zionist Organization of America. The immediate objective of the convention agenda is the establishment of the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical School which is to be erected in Jerusalem.
The convention formally opens tomorrow morning when Mayor Kelly will deliver the welcoming address. In the afternoon the discussion will be concerned chiefly with the relations of the Hadassah with the parent Zionist organization, and a lively debate is anticipated.
Among the arrivals yesterday was a Boston delegation of more than 200 women led by Mrs. Lewis Goldberg, and the large New York City delegation which came by special train.
A social gathering this afternoon attended by many of the Hadassah women featured a celebration of the Oneg Shabboth, a joyous festival in observance of the Sabbath, which was conceived by Chaim Nachman Bialik, Hebrew poet. The Chicago chapter of Hadassah is famous for its presentation of the performance.
About 500 persons attended an informal kosher supper served in the Tel Aviv Restaurant here last night.
Mrs. Samuel W. Halperin, national president, will speak on the subject “Seeing Palestine Through Hadassah” over a national N.B.C. network Monday afternoon at 1:45 P.M., Central Standard time (2:45 New York time).
About 2,000 persons are expected to attend the convention which will continue until Wedesday. The sessions are to be held in the Palmer House in Chicago.
The program of the convention includes a tea to be held in honor of the delegates at the “Century of Progress” fair when they will be guests of the State of Illinois. Rabbi Stephen S. Wise, of the Free Synagogue, New York, will speak Monday evening on “Germany and the World Crisis in Judaism.” A banquet will be tendered the delegates following its final session at which Rabbi Solomon Goldstein, one of the creators of “The Romance of A People” and vice-president of the Zionist Organization of America, will speak.

The Berlin Palestine Bureau received 1,050 Palestine immigration certificates Friday, instead of 150 as reported in the Jewish Daily Bulletin.
