Hamas and Islamic Jihad prisoners who helped author a proposal implicitly recognizing Israel withdrew their names from the plan. The move Sunday deepened the rift among rival Palestinian factions. The prisoners said they were withdrawing their name from the document to protest Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ plan to hold a July 26 referendum based on the plan, which calls for a Palestinian state next to Israel.
