Today is the happiest day of my life. Now I am assured that when I die Jewish burial in consecrated ground will be accorded me.” declared Harry Hirschfeld, aged Philadelphia, when he left the Warsaw Rabbinate building bearing a document to show that he was admitted into the fold of Judaism.
Hirschfeld. who is 77, was born in Warsaw, the son of a converted Polish Jew and his Christian wife. Reared to his seventeenth year as a Christian, he came to the United States where he made his home with his uncle, a Jew, and lived for sixty years as a Jew, married to a Jewish woman and rearing a family in the Jewish faith.
Achieving the purpose of his journey, his official acceptance into the Jewish faith, Hirschfeld left for America.
