Indications that the Jews of Hungary for the first time require economic relief from abroad are seen in reports in the Austrian papers that Baron Kohler, president of the Budapest Jewish Community, state councillor M. Stern and Joseph Veszi, Jewish leaders of Budapest, have made visits to the Alliance Universelle Israelite in Paris and the Joint Distribution Committee in Berlin to negotiate for assistance to the Jews of Hungary.
The reports, however, do not mention whether the relief sought is direct financial help or merely support for the contemplated Hungarian national loan.
