The London “Times” stated yesterday that it learns from reliable sources that Trotsky may be given permission to return to Soviet Russia.
In reply to a request by the exiled communist leader, the Soviet Government declared that Trotsky may return to Russia on July 1st. It is possible, however, that the Soviet Government, under Stalin’s influence, may at the last moment refuse to allow Trotsky’s return.
The New York “Times” reports that a number of former followers of Trotsky have made overtures to return to the Soviet fold, notable among them Karl Radek, who was exiled to Tomsk on the frontier of Chinese Turkestan, for his opposition to the Stalin policies.
