The seminar, the first of its kind on the American scene, was convened by the Department of Education and Culture of the Jewish Agency for the purpose of discussing the status of American Jewish culture and education at this time and to map program for the future. It was attended by 70 top educators representing the major Jewish institutions of higher learning in this country, heads of Jewish educational bureaus, members of the rabbinate and leaders of the Zionist movement.
