The Hebrew press today sharply attacks the action of the military court which this week sentenced two Jewish youths, David Salomon and David Epstein, to seven years imprisonment on the charge of carrying illegal arms.
The papers point out that a difference must be drawn between those, such as Salomon and Epstein, who possess arms to defend their homes, and those who use arms to attack the government and Jewish institutions. The convicted youths explained at their trial that they carried revolvers to protect their settlement – which is located in the heart of an Arab area – from armed marauders who had attacked it on several occasions.
