Colony, with a population consisting of forty Jewish families who till the soil.
“The Chevra Chadisha Society of Edenbridge Colony last Sunday night sponsored an evening at the synagogue. All the Jews were present. The first on the program was Hatikvah by Rosenberg Brothers Band, and then a debate by members of Young Judea: ‘Resolved That Fascism Is beneficial to World Jewry.’
“Introductions were by Sam Broudy. Judges were Harry Broudy, Harry Cohen and Harry Fenster. The debaters for the affirmative were Philip Abramsky, Edward Vicker and Charles Gordon; for the negative, Morris Rosenberg, Norman Rosenberg and Charles Vicker. Many good points were brought out by the debaters on both sides.
“The chairman of the rest of the evening was Mordecai Raisen. Following the debate was an act, ‘Two Sisters,’ given in Yiddish. The players were Philip Abramsky, Harry Broudy, Rose Raisen and Norman Vicker.
“Next were the speakers, Katish Fenster, J. Leon Lazarowitz (former hobo king), Dave Vicker and Sam Vicker.
“A ladies auxiliary and many other organizations are represented in the colony. There are here many who work and sympathize with Zionism. People from Nipawin, Brooksby, Ridgedale and Gronlid were present at the gathering.”
