The Israel Cabinet met today under the chairmanship of Levi Eshkol and it is believed that it was presented with a report on the meeting held in Washington last week between President Eisenhower and Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion.
Without disclosing the contents of the report, political circles here expressed the view that the first part of Mr. Ben-Gurion’s visit in the United States is apparently fulfilling the cautious optimism foreseen by officials accompanying the Prime Minister on his trip.
Hope is being expressed here that the views expressed by Prime Minister Ben-Gurion in Washington on East-West problems, and on assistance to underdeveloped countries, have helped to dissipate the impression that Israel sees international problems from a narrow Israeli point only. It is hoped that the discussions held by Mr. Ben-Gurion with the various American statesmen may have convinced them that the Israel Prime Minister sees Middle East issues’ within the framework of broader world affairs.
