Dr. Moshe Prywes, associate dean of the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School, today denied a report that had appeared in the Israeli press to the effect that 40 percent of the school’s graduating class have registered for immigration to the United States.
The fact is, Dr. Prywes said, that a number of graduates have registered with the United States Consulate here for examinations required by the American Government for doctors who plan to take post-graduate work in the United States at any time in the future. “They register now,” Dr. Prywes stated, “while their examination material is fresh in their minds, with a view to obtaining the qualification for use should the occasion arise of their going to the United States at some time in the future.”
Dr. Prywes also declared as “untrue” reports that 15 percent of the school’s graduates have left Israel. The number, he said, is exactly 15 doctors, or two-and-a-half percent of the school’s 600 graduates.
