The appointment of John Foster Dulles as United States Secretary of State was hailed this weekend by Israel Ambassador Abba S. Eban.
Mr. Eban described Mr. Dulles as “a formidable advocate of close American-Israel friendship.” He added that “I have been privileged to have cordial contacts with him in the United Nations. In the United Nations session of 1948 he played an important and helpful role in the Israel-Arab controversy and a close relationship of mutual regard developed between him and our Foreign Minister, Mr. Sharett.
