Israel halted efforts to convert the Bnei Menashe, an Indian community of “hidden Jews.” The Foreign Ministry said Wednesday that a campaign to convert the 7,000 Bnei Menashe remaining in India, using members of the Israeli Chief Rabbinate, had been called off following protests from New Delhi.
