Artillery and mortar fire sounded over the Jordan Valley for about four hours this morning. An Israeli Army spokesman said the Jordanians opened up with artillery at about 6:15 a.m. against Israeli forces, a little over 10 miles north of Damiya bridge. This was followed by a mortar exchange that lasted until 10 a.m. A Jordanian spokesman monitored here claimed that the Israelis used artillery as well.
