Israeli lawmakers approved a temporary leave for Moshe Katsav following the attorney general’s announcement that he would indict the president for rape and other charges. Katsav announced Wednesday that he will take a temporary leave from office, but lawmakers such as Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Foreign and Justice Minister Tzipi Livni said a temporary leave would be insufficient and that the president should resign.
