Gravestones were unveiled in various parts of Israel today memorializing 10 of the 11 Israeli Olympic athletes slain by Arab terrorists in Munich Sept. 5. The 11th victim, David Mark Berger, was buried in Cleveland, Ohio.
A large crowd attended unveiling ceremonies in the Tel Aviv cemetery where Eliezer Halfin, Mark Slavin, Kehat Shour, Andre Spitzer and Amitzur Shapira are buried. Services were held at the Herzliah cemetery for Joseph Romano; in Holon for Jacob Springer; in Jerusalem for Joseph Gutfreund; in Haifa for Zeev Friedman; and in Petach Tikva for Moshe Weinberg. A memorial rally will be held Thursday at the Mann Auditorium in Tel Aviv, Premier Golda Meir will deliver the eulogy.
