Israelis stood at attention as a two-minute siren sounded to mark Holocaust Martyrs and Heroes Day. At the state ceremony Monday evening marking the start of the commemoration, President Moshe Katsav referred to the current wave of anti-Semitic violence sweeping Europe, saying there are still threatening voices of anti-Semitism, xenophobia and racism.
