The Italian Cabinet has decided that children of a Jewish father and a non-Jewish mother are not Jewish and can if they wish take their mother’s name, it was learned today. The Cabinet also has ruled that non-Jewish Italians with names that generally are considered Jewish can change them if they so desire.
Any wills made by a Jew and specifying that the beneficiaries must retain their Jewish faith, henceforth will be considered null and void, the Cabinet decided.
