Italian police confiscated paintings, manuscripts and other valuables from the hotel room of a companion of a recently deceased Italian Jewish author. The goods belong to the disputed estate of Giorgio Bassini, whose novel “The Garden of the Finzi-Continis” was later made into an Oscar-winning film.
