Two prominent Jews have been named for important local offices here. Henry Monsky, widely known throughout the country for his Jewish activities, was elected president of the Omaha Community Chest yesterday. Mr. Monsky is known here as the “father of the Community Chest,” having been one of its founders and chief workers. He is also very active in the work of the Omaha Boy Scouts, the Jewish Community Center and the Jewish Welfare Federation.
Mr. Monsky holds a number of national offices in Jewish organizations. He is the national chairman of the B’nai B’rith Wider Scope campaign, a member of the executive committee of the Constitution Grand Lodge, I. OB.B., District No. 6, and chairman of the building committee of the Jewish Orphans’ home in Cleveland.
Judge Irvin Stalmaster received today the appointment of assistant attorney general of the state with headquarters in Omaha. Judge Stalmaster received nationwide attention some months ago by being appointed to fill an unexpired term as district judge while in his thirty-first year, being the youngest district judge ever holding office so far as can be learned.
Stalmaster is active in local and national Jewish affairs.
Jack Marer, deputy county attorney, was elected president of Omaha Lodge No. 354, B’nai B’rith, at the annual meeting of the lodge in the Jewish Community Center last evening. Other officers are: Robert H. Kooper, vice-president; Isadore Abramson, secretary; Harry Friedman, treasurer; Philip Klutznick, gurardian; Irvin Levin, warden, and Milton Abrahams, Dr. Nathan Muskin and Robert Glazer, trustees.
