The Jewish Telegraphic Agency opened a new facsimile circuit today between its United Nations office and its New York headquarters to speed transmission of news copy from the United Nations to JTA client newspapers throughout the world.
The facsimile circuit will feed the news to the JTA Editorial Department for use locally and for radioprinter relay to other parts of the world with such speed that it will be possible, during the critical afternoon operating hours, to have a JTA story in Tel Aviv within five minutes of its completion by the correspondent.
Two representatives of the Newspaper Publishers Association of Israel. Pinhas Leibovitz, its secretary-general, and Yehiel Eliash, director-general of the Israel daily newspaper, Hatzofe, visited the JTA headquarters today to witness the start of the new service. Both are in the United States as delegates to the 13th annual congress of the International Federation of Newspaper Publishers.
