Burned when she came in contact with an electric heater, Miss Jessie D. Swerdloff, prominent communal and Zionist worker, was found dead in the bathroom of her home.
She was a member of the executive board of Junior Hadassah, Young Judae, Jewish National Fund Council and the Women Teachers Association. She was for many years a teacher in the Sunday school of the Jewish Community Building.
The Zionist groups, of which Miss Swerdloff was a member, are planning to purchase several plots of land in Palestine to be named in her honor. The funeral services were attended by hundreds of Buffalonians, including many prominent Jews and non-Jews.
