A Jewish trader named Mai was wounded by a Nazi yesterday in the town of Nituch near Danzig for shouting a slogan in support of the anti-Nazi boycott.
While Danzig police looked on, refusing to intervene, organized Nazi bands beat a number of Jewish merchants at a fair on the outskirts of the Free City Friday and then sacked their homes, according to reports received by the Havas News Agency.
Many Jews were said to have been injured.
A demand by the Polish High Commissioner to Danzig for an immediate investigation of the incident revealed tonight that several Polish citizens had been attacked in the Free City, Havas said.
Police did not molest the Nazis, but arrested one of their victims, it was said. Polish newspapers heatedly declared tonight that the incident proved the need of vigorous intervention by Warsaw.
