An appeal for funds for the relief of the victims of the Palestine disaster was issued here over the signatures of members of the Jewish Agency for Palestine. Lord Melchett, Lord. Reading, Dr. Chaim. Weizmann, Louis Marshall, Felix M. Warburg, James de Rothschild. O. E D’ Avigdor Goldsmid and Simon Marks.
“The tragic events in Palestine, involving not only heavy loss of life but also destruction of property, unemployment and the eviction of large numbers from their homes and the creation of widespread destitution and misery call for immediate help. An emergency committee, therefore, has been formed to enable those on the spot to render such first assistance as is immediately needed. It is not in any way intended that the formation of this fund is to be regarded as relieving the responsible authorities from their present duties towards the sufferers or from the legal claims for loss and suffering which may arise out of the recent events.
