October 15, 1957
See Original Daily Bulletin From This Date

The settlement of complaints in two provinces against discrimination in employment in violation of FEP law was reported here today by the National Joint Public Relations Committee of the Canadian Jewish Congress and B’nai B’rith.

One case dealt with a bank in Vancouver, British Columbia; the second with a firm in Manitoba. Both involved Jewish applicants denied employment when they said they were Jewish or “Hebrew.” In both cases the defendants have agreed to abide by the law, following action by the provincial authorities.
