Jewish representatives will be included in the emergency groups which will direct relief activities in territories recaptured from the German armies in Europe immediately after their liberation, it was indicated here today following negotiations between representatives of the Jewish Agency and British authorities which were concluded in Cairo.
The negotiations were concerned chiefly with the formation of special Jewish aid-and-salvation units which are to follow the Allied armies into Europe for the purpose of aiding the liberated Jewish population there. Special training for Jewish personnel to man these missions has already been started in Palestine.
A movement to have as many Jewish volunteers as possible in the front ranks of the Allied armies of liberation has been going on in Palestine sponsored by the Jewish Agency. The leaders of the movement, which include Moshe Shertok, head of the political department of the Jewish Agency, want the Jewish volunteers from Palestine to be the first Allied soldiers “to demolish the ghetto walls” in the liberated countries as soon as the victorious armies enter.
