Jewish Scientist Named President of M.i.t.; Believed to Be First Jew in Post

A leading Jewish scientist, Dr. Jerome B. Wiesner, has been named 13th president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is believed to be the first Jewish president of the famous 110-year-old university. The 55-year-old former presidential advisor is now Provost of the institution. The appointment is effective July 1.
