The Roumanian government has not dissolved the Bucharest Kehillah board as was reported in the Roumanian Jewish newspaper “Adeverul.”
The Minister of the Interior has appointed a special commission of inquiry to look into the affairs of the Bucharest Kehillah. This gave rise to the report that the government is about to dissolve the board. Dr. William Filderman, former Senator Bercovici, and Mr. Steinhard have intervened with Prime Minister Maniu, protesting against the interference with the autonomy of the Bucharest Kehillah. The Prime Minister has promised to have the Minister of Religions make a new decision in the matter.
