Milton Himmelfarb, a leading Jewish intellectual, died Jan. 4 at age 87. Himmelfarb was a longtime contributor to Commentary magazine. He is best known for his statement that Jews “earn like Episcopalians, but vote like Puerto Ricans.” He also conducted demographic research on voting and marriage patterns while working for the American Jewish Committee, where he served as director of information and research.
