Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Mohamed Farrag, told a United Nations Correspondents Association Luncheon yesterday that Egypt had not obeyed the Security Council resolution on the Suez Canal blockade because Israel had not carried out the other U.N. resolutions on Palestine.
He asserted that the Security Council resolution calling on Egypt to desist from it interference with Israeli-bound shipping was related to the whole Palestine question. Minister Farrag declared that Egypt was only stopping five or six categories of goods from going to Israel through the Canal whereas “it was entitled to prevent 300 categories from reaching their destination under international law.”
