Another controversy between the Jews and the Moslems of Palestine over a (###) Holy. She has arisen, following closely upon the dispute over the Western Wall of the Temple commonly known as the Wailing Wall, which re-echoed throughout the world.
The center of the present controversy is the Tomb of Rachel, near Jerusalem, described in the Bible as “on the road in Eghrath.” The structure which is traditionally believed to cover the cave where Raclied was burled is in urgent need of repair. The Jewish community of Jerusalem was eager to undertake the repair work, but the British District Commissioner, Keith-Roach, refused permission, stating that the Tomb is claimed by both the Jews and the Moslens. The Palestine government therefore, will undertake the repair work itself.
The matter has again been taken up by the Jewish community since the repairs were not started and it was declared that the new High Commissioner., Sir. John Chancellor, is now considering the question as to who has the right to this Holy Site the Jews or the Moslens.
