Galician Zionists and Labor Parties Remain Outside (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)
The formation of a national minorities bloc for the forthcoming parliamentary elections was announced today in a statement issued by representatives of the Ukrainian, White Russian, German, Lithuanian and Jewish party leaders who negotiated concerning this matter.
It appears, however, that the bloc will embrace only the middle class and peasant parties, to the exclusion of the socialist parties. The Ukrainian socialists as well as the Jewish labor parties Bund and Poale Zion are not included in the bloc. Similarly, the Zionists in Eastern and Western Galicia are not included. It was stated that the reason for this decision was the demand of the Ukrainian leaders that the entire number of mandates in Eastern Galicia be given to the Ukrainians. This demand met with the opposition of the Zionist group headed by Dr. Leon Reich. The Zionists in Eastern and Western Galicia will therefore go to the poles separately.
