Nazi books and pamphlets are appearing more and more prominently on newsstands here. The DAIA, the central representative body of Argentine Jewry, has met recently with high government and military officials to express its concern.
Although the material is presented as historical records, they do not disguise their pro-Nazi support. One series published by the Milicia Publishing House has titles such as “The Lie of Auschwitz,” and “Judaism and Catholicism” which claim that the concentration camps did not exist, that the gas chambers were invented by the Allies and that Hitler did not murder six million Jews. Hitler himself is pictured as a benevolent father-figure and the savior of Europe.
La Prensa, the influential conservative morning newspaper, said in an editorial that Nazi and fascist propaganda had not been banned under the law prohibiting the dissemination of ideas which could disrupt national unity and this does not help the government’s reputation for political impartiality.
