A New Rochelle police officer who was wounded by a demented Nazi admirer in a shooting spree last year, has filed a $2 million damage suit against a dozen neo-Nazi organizations and five gun shops and distributors of Nazi memorabilia. The city of New Rochelle was also named as a defendant in the suit brought by officer Raymond Satiro in Westchester Supreme Court and Manhattan Federal Court yesterday.
Satiro was wounded by Frederick Cowan, 33, a collector of Nazi artifacts and Nazi literature, who went berserk at his place of employment. He killed six persons and wounded five before fatally shooting himself. The suit charges that the material distributed by the neo-Nazi organizations and shops appeals to the mentally defective and triggered Cowan’s rampage.
