A scroll containing stories from Genesis, Noah’s biography, Abraham’s journey into Egypt and a description of Sarah’s beauty, among other matters, was described here today by Yigal Yadin, Hebrew University archaeologist.
Speaking at a press conference at the University, Dr. yadin explained that the scroll, found in the Judean desert, is not as was first thought a Scroll of Lemech, although it does contain stories in which Lemech features, including conversations in which he discusses his belief that his wife has borne a child who is actually the “son of God.” The scroll also contains, said Dr. Yadin who deciphered it a description of the war of the four kings.
