Hector Villa Lobos, Brazil’s greatest living composer and one of the topranking composers of the Americas, today presented Israel Ambassador David Shaltiel with the copyright of his latest tone poem: “To Israel–the Odyssey of a Race.”

Two years ago, Sr. Villa Lobos visited Israel and was greatly impressed with what he saw. At that time he decided to write a composition in honor of the young Jewish State. In making the presentation, the composer asked that royalties accumulating from performances of the tone poem be used for the musical education of Israeli children.
