A decision by an Orthodox synagogue in Atlanta, Congregation Shearith Israel, to permit mixed seating during religious services, was “deplored” today by Moses I. Feurstein, president of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America. The decision in Atlanta, said Mr. Feurstein, “is contrary to the increasing resistance of traditional synagogues to deviationist tendencies.”
